Appendix C: STEM Careers
The following is a list of STEM careers that may be discussed as a part of this lesson:
Zoo Keeper
Zoo keepers take care of animals at the zoo. They make sure animals have the proper food, water and shelter to survive.
Zoologist: Zoologists are scientists who study animals. Some work in laboratories and some work in nature, observing animals where they live in the wild. Some zoologists even work in zoos and aquariums. These workers are in charge of caring for the animals and designing exhibits that function as habitats for the animals.
Botanist: Botanists study plants. They look for answers to questions about how plants can be used for food, what diseases hurt plants, and how people use plants for medicine.
Biologist: Biologists working in the tropical rainforest discover and study different plants and animals. They also work to make sure the plants and animals survive in the rainforest.
